Giuseppe Pane

After graduating in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administrations
at the John Cabot University in Rome, Mr. Pane managed the content of “The
Oxygen Project” for SAIC, a survey study for the deployment of fibre optic
cables for a new worldwide network. He also performed market research for
SAIC for TLC hardware producers in the Mediterranean area.
Returning home he worked for Computron, a company working in the TLC for
mobile carriers. Among his responsibilities were promoting Computron’s
skills in the engineering area for new installation of mobile antennas, and
establishing relations with foreign hardware producers to sell their
products/services in Italy.
Mr. Pane, together with other partners, started InfoCall in 2003. The
mission of the company is to be the outsourcing company for fixed/mobile
carriers for directory assistance services. The company started as a
“content provider”, supplying the software/content needed for DA services,
serving Wind Telecomunicazioni.
In order to provide a better service, the company has moved toward turn-key
solutions, including call center operators. InfoCall implemented the first
video service available to customers through a video call center. The number
of InfoCall services has grown, and now includes the typical VAS.

Luisa Piazza

Luisa Piazza since 2003 has been responsible of Regulatory Affairs and Int.l
Benchmark at SEAT Pagine Gialle S.p.A. (one of the leading European
directories publishers) and in the last two years has been fully involved in
the opening of the Directory Assistance market and in the creation of the
Unique Data Base.
She also represents SEAT within two main Int.l Associations of directory
publishers in Europe (EADP) and US (YPA).Ms. Piazza joined SEAT Pagine
Gialle in 1990 and developed her career mostly within the Marketing Dept. As
Marketing Manager, in 2000/2002 she was in charge of transforming the
traditional Telephone book into a new multi-platform directory, and
launching a branded “White Pages” system.
Prior to joining SEAT, Ms. Piazza worked for two years at Benetton
Undercolors, where she was in charge of 4 EU markets (in the international
commercial Dept.).
Luisa graduated in Political Sciences – Int.l Relations and has a
post-graduate diploma in business management from ISDA (Rome).
She attended the International Marketing Programme at INSEAD in
Fontainebleau.

Marco Pierani
Public Affairs Officer

After few years spent working as lawyer mainly on Internet law and
e-commerce related issues, since 2002 Marco Pierani is Public Affairs
Officer at Altroconsumo www.altroconsumo.it Italian independent consumers
association, following in particular the utilities sector, Internet and
telecommunication.
He maintains contacts with Regulatory Authorities, Italian and European
competent administrations as well as with operators. In representing
consumers’ interests at Parliamentary and Governmental level he participates
in hearings and constantly intervenes in conferences and round tables.
Mr Pierani is member of the Working Group on liberalization of public
services at “Consiglio Nazionale dei Consumatori e Utenti”, of the Working
Group on competition issues of the European Consumer Consultative Group - DG
SANCO European Commission, as well as of “Circolo dei Giuristi Telematici”

Marco graduated in Law at the University of Bologna and holds an LL.M. in
European Business Law from the University of Nijmegen (NL). He is author of
numerous articles on the legal aspects of Internet, e-commerce and
telecommunication and co-author of: “I sistemi altenativi di risoluzione
delle controversie online” - the first Italian book on Online Dispute
Resolution.

Gloria R. Reese
President of Operator Services
BellSouth Telecommunications
As President of Operator Services since December 2003, Gloria R Reese is
responsible for direction of the organization providing “0”, 411 and
database services to the retail and wholesale markets. Gloria’s
responsibility includes every aspect of the business, from marketing and
product management, to overseeing the day to day management and support of
the directory assistance call centers.
Gloria has more than 25 years experience in the telecommunications
business including positions of Vice President - Consumer Services, General
Manager - Consumer Services NC/SC, Director -Business Sales, Director -
Technology Planning and Design, Manager - Training Development and Manager -
Diversity/Intercultural Relations.
Gloria is a board member of the Board of Trustees for Winston Salem State
University (Winston Salem, NC), The Center for the Visually Impaired
(Atlanta, GA) and the Charlotte Housing Authority Scholarship Board
(Charlotte, NC). She believes in giving back, and mentors young
professionals in BellSouth through two employee networking groups: BNAT
(BellSouth Network of African American Telecom Professionals) and BWNA
(BellSouth Women’s Networking Association).
Gloria holds a dual degree in English literature and psychology from
Winston Salem State University in Winston Salem North Carolina. She
completed executive education programs at Penn State University and The
Business School at Harvard University.

Michael Reuter
Executive Vice President Directory Services
Deutsche Telekom; T-Com Headquarters, Bonn
Michael Reuter is Executive Vice President in T-Com’s Headquarters,
responsible for Directory Services. This includes both the management of
requirements for the technical platforms and the marketing of directory
related services. His area of responsibility reaches from the offering of
directory assistant services to the management of the comprehensive data
base of all entry listings in Germany.
Before managing T-Com’s Directory Services , Reuter was working on a project
basis in Zagreb, Croatia, managing the re-branding of Hrvatski Telekom under
the umbrella of the T-brand family. Prior to this assignment, Reuter was
responsible for Corporate Communications & Marketing Services of T-Systems,
the large enterprise related branch of the Deutsche Telekom divisions, based
with its headquarters at Frankfurt/Main. Before this position, Reuter was
Head of Sales Marketing at Deutsche Telekom headquarters, responsible for
sales related marketing planning and marketing measures.
In 1982 he was appointed Head of Public Relations of the Technical
Engineering and Resaearch Center. From 1988-1994 he was Head of Broadband
Cable Marketing at Detecon, Deutsche Telekom Consulting GmbH at Bonn. From
there he was appointed Head of Communications Residential Customers in
Deutsche Telekom headquarters in 1995.
Reuter earned a Diplom-Ingenieur degree in telecommunications engineering
from the Technical University at Darmstadt in 1976.

Valérie Shwartz

Valerie Shwartz is in charge of Voice services Business Unit, within
PagesJaunes in France. She joined PagesJaunes in 1996 to implement strategic
planning , and joined the Board in 1998 as Director in charge of Strategy
and Process Management.
In 2000 she joined the Executive Board of PagesJaunes, and added Quality and
business development to her prior responsibilities. Valérie Shwartz was
named head of the Voice Services Business Unit in 2005.
Before joining PagesJaunes, Valérie Shwartz was based in Paris with Mercer
Management Consulting for several years. Valérie Shwartz holds an engineer
degree and a MBA from HEC Management school.

Harjinder Singh-Heer

Harjinder manages Heernet ventures, a research and advisory business
specialising in the media industry. Heernet ventures has undertaken a number
of client assignments investigating aspects of the directories market and
has also published a number of industry reports on the same subject.
Before founding Heernet ventures, Harjinder was the Director of Business
Development for an internet venture launched with a £40 million investment
by the Guardian Media Group.
Prior to the Guardian Media Group, Harjinder was an Assistant director in
ABN AMRO Bank's media corporate finance team, a corporate strategist at the
BBC and a consultant with Andersen Consulting.
Harjinder has an MA from Oxford University and an MSc from London
University.

Stuart M. Whitaker

Whitaker Associates
Stuart M. Whitaker formed Whitaker Associates in 1991 after having worked
for the US local exchange carrier NYNEX and equipment manufacturer Northern
Telecom. Through Whitaker Associates, Stuart helps organizations take
advantage of opportunities in domestic and international telecommunications
markets created by the communication technology revolution and regulatory
reform. Whitaker Associates also publishes The Operator, a newsletter for
directory services markets worldwide, and has sponsored the European
Directory Services Marketplace conference series since 2001.
Stuart has particular expertise in competitive, technological, and
regulatory issues affecting specific segments of the communications industry
including value added and information services. Services provided by
Whitaker Associates include marketing, analysis of market, competitive,
technological, and regulatory issues, business planning, project management,
and litigation support. Stuart received an MBA from the University of
Chicago in Finance and International Business. |
