Ms. Kathleen Pierz
Managing Partner
The Pierz Group, LLC
Ms. Pierz is the Managing Partner of The Pierz Group, a practice focused
exclusively on the Information Services Market. She has published over 100
reports and articles on key topics facing the industry. Prior to founding
The Pierz Group, Kathleen was Senior Vice President of the Global
Directories & Databases practice at The Kelsey Group. Ms. Pierz also held
strategic planning and market management positions in IBM's Information
Services eXtended division. During nine years at Ameritech Advertising
Services (now SBC), Kathleen worked in new product development and strategic
planning.
Ms. Pierz has been quoted in most major business and industry publications
in the US and has provided official testimony for the U.S. Senate on DA/DQ
to Mobile numbers. Kathleen also has broad marketing and strategic planning
experience from other fields including Great Wall Consulting in Beijing,
General Motors, Warner Lambert’s Chicle Adams operations in Venezuela, as
well as financial background from Ford’s Latin American operations. Kathleen
earned a BSBA in Marketing from the University of Colorado and a Masters
Degree in International Management from AGSIM (Thunderbird); she teaches at
several colleges and speaks five languages. |

Mr. Robert Rożek

Poland NRA
Robert Rożek is a member of Telecommunications Market Department at
Office of Telecommunications and Post Regulation - URTiP, Polish NRA, which
he joined in 2002. Initially he was assigned to work in the Permissions and
Applications Division, where he was responsible for preparing law documents
concerning applications issues. Since February 2003 he has been working on
universal services and market research in the Universal Services and
Competition Unit. He is particularly responsible for directory services and
law regulations. He also assisted with the preparations of the Decision of
the President of URTiP, which obliged Telekomunikacja Polska S.A (TP S.A.)
as an incumbent operator to provide the nationwide telephone directory
enquiry for all subscribers.
He was an assistant at the Twining Project - Telecommunications Universal
Services and during a 2-month practice in the Ministry of Science and
Technology in Madrid, Spain he gathered experience in universal services and
European law regulations.
Mr. Rożek graduated in 2002 with a degree in Social Science from Warsaw
University and in 2004 with a degree in European Law from the European
Height School of Law and Administration in Warsaw. |

Ms. Sjölander has been CEO of Eniro 118 118 AB (formerly Respons AB) since
1998.
Other positions held in the industry have been: Head of Customer Service
Development, Telia Nära AB; Head of Customer Service (Stockholm region),
Telia Mobitel AB; Head of Purchasing, Sales Operations Manager, and Head of
Customer Service at Digital Equipment AB.
Ms. Sjölander has pursued educational opportunities in Statistics and
Economics as well as attending the Advanced Management Program at The
Stockholm School of Economics. |

Mr. Oswin Slade
Director Business Development
ISx, Inc. Asia-Pacific
Oswin Slade has responsibility for ISx business development at Asia Pacific
telecommunications and directory companies, including one of ISx’s largest
customers, the Australian telecommunications company Telstra. In this role,
he leads ISx strategic planning for Asia Pacific and provides direction for
ISx product development to meet the directory enquiry requirements of
companies throughout the region.
Slade has more than 25 years experience as an information technology
executive with a focus on software, telecommunications, mapping and
telematics. He developed his technical, management and business expertise
through a combination of studying, military training and hands on experience
in Australia, Taiwan, Austria, Latin America, Canada and the USA.
Slade holds a Masters of Applied Science from RMIT University in Melbourne,
Australia. |

Mr. David Stafford
General Secretary
EIDQ Association
David is the first General Secretary of the Association for the European
Interworking of Directory Inquiry Services (EIDQ Association). Its members
are engaged in national and international Directory Assistance and
Electronic Directory Services.
He has been involved in the activities of the Association since 1994,
firstly in several of the working groups as a representative of BT (UK) and
more recently as the EIDQ Administrative Secretary. A change to the
organisation created the role of General Secretary for which David was the
successful candidate and he took up his duties on 1 April 2003.
During the last 10 years of his time with BT, David worked in Directory
Services where he managed a variety of operational and technical systems
projects in support of BT’s inland and international directory products and
services.
As General Secretary of the EIDQ, he manages all the activities of the
Association and works with the Executive Committee, the working groups and
the support functions to maintain the EIDQ technical and operational
standards and provide information and benefits for the members of the
Association. |

Mr. Nils Tharandt

SCOOT FranceNils Tharandt, 32, is the CEO of SCOOT, a company founded by
several experienced, dynamic and creative entrepreneurs with various
backgrounds in the field of law, banking, communications, internet and IT.
Through various work experience, Nils has gained valuable experience in the
field of lawmaking, administration, diplomacy and marketing. A lawyer with
two masters’ degrees in law, Nils worked as a legal consultant for the
United Nations in Geneva and Paris. In his role as commercial assistant to
the Foreign Commercial Service at the American Embassy, he was in charge of
regulatory affairs. Nils worked as a parliamentary assistant for a French
Congressman and former Minister. From 2000-2001, he set-up ebooks21.com, a
digital textbook publisher and won the first prize at the Oracle start-up
contest in Paris which was awarded by the Senate. |

Fund group; co-founder DashWorks, Inc.; a decade at The Eastman Kodak
Company.
A recognized authority on how information technology can improve the
delivery of content, risk management, and government services, Thibeau has
contributed to numerous companies in the areas of product management,
channel sales, and strategic alliances. |

Mr. Dominic Tonner
CEO
MI InternationalDominic is the CEO of the European data solutions
company, MI International. He has over 20 years’ experience in European
sales and marketing operations with large companies such at BAT and API
Group, and was CEO of a start-up business supplying high value software
solutions and services for large corporations. He joined MI International in
March 2002 as Business Development Director prior to becoming CEO as part of
the re-structuring following 2nd round funding in June 2002. In 2004,
Dominic successfully divested from MI the online business directory,
Askalix, and the mobile phone location service, mapAmobile, using the
proceeds to invest in their core business of supplying European POI and
business data, particularly to the satellite navigation market. |

François Varloot
Deputy Director, Economy and Prospective Division
ART, FranceFrançois Varloot is Deputy Director,
Division Economy and Prospective within the ART, the French regulatory
authority. He graduated from Ecole Polytechnique in 1987 and from
Telecom Paris in 1989 with a specialization in wide-area networks and
telecom economy and legislation.
He was then a telecom consultant at Cap Gemini,
handling both IT projects like the GSM network management system of France
Telecom and telecom projects like the Renater first French Internet backbone
or the design and building of EuroDisney telecom and IT networks.
In 1993, he became Director of Strategy for Unisource
France, launching one of the first alternative carriers for strategic
accounts in France, negotiating the AT&T/Unisource partnership and creating
the Siris joint-venture with Cegetel. In 1996, he moved to Colorado to
manage the business development of the new US telecom & media division of
Cap Gemini, launching Telco-in-a-Box wireline and wireless US carriers.
He then joined Level(3) Communications as Director of International
Development and Collocation Product Line, deploying miles of fiber optics
and dozens of data centers and VoiP softswitches across the globe.
In 2002, after moving back in France, he joined
Microsoft in charge of Telecom Business Development with the main French
operators, working on projects like the Orange smartphone and the France
Telecom messaging system. Since 2004, he has been in charge for the
ART of several topics including universal service, regulatory qualification,
voice over broadband and directory services. |

Stuart M. Whitaker

Whitaker Associates
Stuart M. Whitaker formed Whitaker Associates in 1991 after having worked
for the US local exchange carrier NYNEX and equipment manufacturer Northern
Telecom. Through Whitaker Associates, Stuart helps organizations take
advantage of opportunities in domestic and international telecommunications
markets created by the communication technology revolution and regulatory
reform. Whitaker Associates also publishes The Operator, a newsletter for
directory services markets worldwide, and has sponsored the European
Directory Services Marketplace conference series since 2001.
Stuart has particular expertise in competitive, technological, and
regulatory issues affecting specific segments of the communications industry
including value added and information services. Services provided by
Whitaker Associates include marketing, analysis of market, competitive,
technological, and regulatory issues, business planning, project management,
and litigation support. Stuart received an MBA from the University of
Chicago in Finance and International Business. |
